weight loss

Please don't reply to this about how unhealthy it is etc or the long term health effects, all I am after is the answer to the question asked. If you do not eat for a week and drink only water, how much weight can you expect to lose? Thanks

Your own metabolic rate, how much exercise you take etc. You also have to take into consideration that your body will go into starvation mode meaning your body will desperately try and reserve all fat stores. It is best for weight loss to at least eat something, even if it's just raw veg or fruit.
impossible to answer without knowing how much muscle mass you have (a large proportion of the weight loss from this type of action is from the body breaking down muscle rather than fat as it tries to reserve fat stores when being starved) and without knowing how much fat you currently have (clearly some fats will be lost this way but if you are chubby it won't be much however if you are the size of a house it will seem like quite a bit (though if you are reallly very very fat then its just as likely that the body will go into shock and you;ll end up in hospital at the end of the week as you body will be unable to support your massive frame without the calorie intake)
if you really want to crash diet in a week there are much better ways to do it - i know you didn't ask but i'd be happy to discuss some other ways if you fancy it (used to be a personal trainer to still have a few tricks up me sleeve and do understand the urge to do a quick crash diet for certain events - as an aside it was usually the sports guys that did this to lower their weight sufficiently for certain sporting events e.g. to get into a certain category of boxing or rowing)

Hi, first of all, you will not lose 'weight' it will be water.
For the past 2 weeks I have only eaten on a saturday and sunday and I have lost NO weight (I am 8.11lbs). As ummmm said, your body goes into starvation mode and stops burning calories and stores fat. You can see yourself losing 'weight' as you feel more and more hungry but you are only losing water and muscle. After 3 days I went to about 8.8lbs then saturday afternoon i was back to 8.11lbs! The first day you start eating properly again, you will go back to the same weight.
Trust me, I have an eating disorder and have tried every 'quick fix' in the book. You will be suffering the whole week only to be disappointed. If you want to feel slimmer, don't bother suffering it. Maybe spend a week having only fruit and veg if you feel you want to restrict yourself, but keep your metabolism going and your sanity, by actually eating something. Or, eat the same stuff, but less of it and go for a 30 minute walk every day for a week and see how you get on.
