Bankcrupcy, moving away, finance, etc.!!!

Me and my partner are moving abroad in 6 weeks time. I have a personal loan which i pay �120 a month to and thats for the next 5 years. My partner owes ALOT and is on about going bankcrupt next week as he works full time yet he cannot pay off all the bills he owes. I know you have to pay �500 and go to court to become bankcrupt but what i want to know is can "they" stop us moving abroad straight after he has gone bankcrupt. Also my dad says we will never be able to come back to england if he goes bankcrupt then does a "runner" will he get in trouble? and how do i go about trying to pay a loan back to england when iam abroad when i prob wont be working for the first 3 months and then will travel the world? xx

I'm a bit confused....how are you managing to 'travel the world' if you already owe money and have no way of repaying it?

I owed 40K and 4 years ago I stopped paying. I have had no contact with the companies involved and any mail goes to my parents house which then gets returned.

Without going into the details I have paid nothing and have not been declared bankrupt. If you do declare yourself bankrupt you will still be liable for at least some of the debt.

You're selling up but instead of paying off the money you OWE and have been using for your own benefit, you're going to do a runner and live off it?

This makes me so angry. I had debts of �7,000 which I am paying monthly, and will be paid in full by 2010. It has affected my credit rating, even though I am paying off (rightly) what I owe.
