Dear All,

The AnswerBank will be down for an hour this afternoon at 3pm.

I suggest you spend an hour over at Gravatar.com signing up and picking yourself a nice Avatar.

Make sure:

1. Your AB email address is the same as your Gravatar Address
2. That you use a "Clean" Avatar
3. Activate your Avatar by visiting My profile and clicking through to "Edit user details" - there is a tick-box here to enable your Avatar.

There are other features, but I think we will let you figure them out by yourself.

Oh, and if something isn't working for you, try Ctrl-f5 first.

Please post criticism and issues in this thread please. We have done some testing, but we only had around 40 testers - so this is the real test for the new systems! Bear with us, I assume the first few minutes will be "rocky"!

Visit your profile in AB and change your email address to the one you signed up to Gravatar with.

Ah, have you used that other email address as a "back-up account" at all Ummm? The system will not let you you use the same email address as any other user (for obvious reasons!).

and create an account.

You can upload an image to Gravatar and the "crop" it to the right size - you needn't worry about pixel size. All the work is done in the browser.

Once we choose an Avatar do we have to keep it or can we change it for another if we do not like it ?

Thanks but I'm already there, it wants me to upload a picture but for best affect I ought to chose one that doesn't need scale changing. Already I tried a test one and the cropping tool didn't seem up to much. I'll play with it a bit longer.
