Who really owns this house?

My friends mom recently passed away and before she passed she told my friend that she was leaving the house to her. When they had the reading of the will my friends family made sure she didn't make it(she doesnt drive). They then told her that her mom changed the will and gave the house to her sister who is now trying to sell the house. How do we find out who owns the house and how can we have her see the will?

i think that you can request a copy from the probate office if probate has been granted.

Are you in the USA? If so property laws may be different to the laws in the UK.

If they had a reading of the will (which I didn't think actually happened anymore) then it must have been handled by a solicitor who will know the contents of the will. As a consequence the solicitor would also know if your friend was a beneficiary. If she can't contact the solicitor herself I'd advise getting legal advice to look into it (if she can afford it)

I agree with Jem, this is a UK based site. If you are in USofA you will probably be better seeking advice from US based sites.
If you are in UK you may be lucky and find someone here who can help but I would not expect it to be so.
