90s Indie-type song, what was the artist/title?

I've been searching in vain for years for a song that was out in the early or mid 90s (I think about 1994, definitely no later than '95) that I really liked, but no-one seems to know it.

It sounds like an Alternative/Indie-rock tune, with a deep male vocal, and has quite an anthemic sound to it. The chorus goes something like "I wanna be alive, ?the stars are bright?, from here". I'm not sure about the 'the stars are bright' bit hence the question marks but I'm pretty sure about the 'I wanna be alive... from here'. I may be wrong about even those lyrics as I've Googled them loads of times and it's returned no results (I sometimes get 'Right Here Right Now' by Jesus Jones but it isn't that), but I am 99% sure those were the lyrics.

Anyone know this song? I used to hear it every now and then on the radio between about 1994-96 but haven't heard it for about 15 years now. I've tried singing it to mates and only ever found one person who recognized it, but they couldn't remember who it was or what the song name was. If anyone can help me with identifying this song I'll love you forever as I really want to get hold of it!

Might as well start the ball rolling with a very longshot... Inside by Stiltskin?

No, not that I'm afraid, I remember Inside pretty well. The song I'm thinking of has more of an Indie feel, faintly stadium rock as well. It's pretty upbeat too. Perhaps a bit James-esque though I know it isn't James as I have just about everything by them, and the vocal's slightly deeper than Tim Booth's. Not deep as in gruff, more mildly deep if you get my gist.
I thought of Star by Ian Brown but that was definitely after 1995
'deep male voice'? Not anything by 'Stone Temple Pilots' is it?

I don't really know The Stone Temple Pilots too well so it could be them... can you think of any particular songs and I'll check them out?
Question Author
Just checked out some STPs stuff from the early 90s and I'm pretty sure this song wasn't them, their stuff is more grungey... the vocal style on the song I'm thinking of wasn't quite as gruff as the STPs singer tends to go, but it's probably the closest guess yet.

Thanks for the Northside link! Good tune but not the one I'm looking for. I'm quite possibly wrong about the 'stars' reference in the lyrics but I'm 99% sure I'm right about 'I want to be alive (possibly realise???)... from here' bits!
Possibly Pearl Jam - Alive

Clutching at straws a bit. lol

A mate suggested the Ocean Colour Scene song, I've checked it out but it's not that. And it's definitely not Pearl Jam I'm afraid, I know that song pretty well, I strum it on my guitar sometimes!

The song I'm thinking of is definitely somewhere between C86-type Indie and Stadium Rock, I'm wondering if I might have the lyrics completely wrong as no-one seems to know it, but I'm still 99% sure the 'I want to be alive... from here' bits were right! Keep the guesses coming :)
Was it this?

It's not Right Here Right Now I'm afraid, that's the song I often get when I try searching the lyrics but it's not the one. Great song though.
