vivandorron, I suspect, by the manner of asking the question, that dk02581 is not a native speaker of English. One often finds this brusque way of asking a favour among foreigners. Allowances should be made, I suppose, but it's still irritating.
Perhaps he comes from Turkey. His question actually sounds as if it is from someone who doesn't have English as a first language. He probably is giving English his best shot.
manners a re manners what ever language you speak
Actually Gina, that's not quite true. Some cultures are very blunt and this wouldn't be seen as rude.
I agree gina
"Ve haf vays of makin you answer, you Englanders"
He's not come back, anyway.
I am intrigued by the OP. It would have been interesting to know how he came by the number and why he needs to know it's whereabouts. Perhaps he works for News International.:-)

02581...Is that a dialing code.?

Ron.
>>boxtop - "He's not come back, anyway."

maybe because he thinks that you are a load of nutters and he is baling out before he get sucked into the insanity.

:-)
wolf; wolf:☺☺☺

Ron.
It is not so much that foreigners are blunt/brusque/rude but more that bowing and scraping is a part of life in some cultures (compare with the Japanese body language) and not others. For example, in some languages there is no direct equivalent to some of the meanings/inferences/applications of the English word please. I recall someone once telling me that the British are the SPT people - Sorry, Please, Thank You - and the sorriest folk on the planet. The British like it that way but others find it intensely boring because it is seen as insincerity - ask yourself how often people actually mean they are sorry as opposed to just mouthing it. dk wants the details he mentions and said so - I find nothing wrong with asking directly and not pleading for them but I understand that some people may find it shockingly honest.
KARL - but you didn't answer dk02581's question - or was it not blunt enough for you.

I admit that an insincere greeting or apology is rather annoying.

:-)
Oops...sorry. I may have dialed the wrong number and have got a crossed connection. So I'll get off the line and let you folk carry on conversing.

Ron.
KARL, and dk2581; when in Rome, do as the Romans do.
bookbinder...You'll not get through to either if you miss out the zero when dialling. :-)

Ron.☺
groan!
dk's profile still shows him as 'active'. Although he does appear to be inactive.

Ron.
I'm still waiting for a 'call-back'.

Is it possible that there is a land-line problem between AB and the OC.(Original caller) !!??

Ron.
I do agree with Karl - why do we say Sorry, when someone else stands on OUR foot?!
