Can anyone help me with the title of this series.Very vague recollections...I remember one episode was about a butterfly and a fire, another episode had an elephant impaling somebody on their tusks. The main thing I remember was at the end of the programme the final shot went to silhouette black and white shot, and then the titles rolled i think with a whistling theme tune ??? Sorry...very vague I know, but that's about all I can remember about it.It would have been on maybe about 10 or 11 at night.Thank you.
More late 70's than 60's but could it be 'Armchair Thriller'?
It used to have the Thames TV them in silhouette and used to spook the bejeezers out of me!
I think emeritus is right. The "elephant" episode is probably the very first of the series called "Somewhere In A Crowd" - you can see the impaling of the handler in this clip (about 14 mins in):
Not the right answer but this did make me think of 'Tales of Mystery and Imagination'. My mum used to make me watch with her when I was a girl and they were really scary.
Tales Of The Unexpected was great - got the first few series on DVD. That Ron Grainer "Carousel" theme tune always creeped me out as a kid.
Further to my previous answer, "Somewhere In A Crowd" wasn't the first episode of JTTU - it was episode 10 - but it should be what NEVCAR28 is looking for.
