Having watched the adverts earlier for this Tefal Fryer that cooks chips with one spoonful of oil, I ordered one. I just wondered if any ABers have used one and whaat they think.

How much was it? I was considering getting one (not sure where I would put it though).
Not got one but I watched some of the demonstration for one last week - they were cooking frozen chips, looked very nice but took 40 minutes to cook...
40 minutes seems an awfully long time, do you know how long it took to cook chips made from actual potatoes? (Although I suspect it wouldn't hold enough chips for my lot.)

Hi Sher. I got it from Amazon £99. says £100.99 off RRP.
They also have a reciped book for sale but on the Amazon website you can download it and print it off. Some really interesting ones in it. It was also free delivery.
I've had mine for over a couple of years now and I like it. Does take quite a long time to cook the chips though.
I think it would be destined for the garage to lie in rest next to the bread maker.
Have you got it yet Car - what do you think to it? It sounds good on the adverts but very expensive!
I asked the chap doing the demonstration and he said they take much the same time - there wasn't many in there either, about one portion I guess.

But you don't have to pre heat it, my existing chip pan takes about 7 minutes to heat up. It's the idea of near calorie free chips I like the look of.
No good for us then Masma, have to stick to oven chips.

Not got it yet, only ordered it an hour ago. 3 days delivery which is fine as I'm out tomorrow and Thursday.
I did think of getting one till I saw the demo now I'm thinking of an electric deep fat fryer but don't they create a lot of steam? Maybe I'll stick to my old faithful pan and basket. Goodnight all xx

I know what you mean Sher about putting it in the garage. We bought a halogen oven and have used it twice in 18 months too much faff. I also bought a metal plate thingy for the micro to cook bacon and other things, used it once. Had to put plate in micro and heat it for 10 minutes then put bacn on it and cook it, again too much faff, also could not get my head round putting a metal plate in micro, though to be honest it didn't spark.
Uncooked on top ... black on the bottom.
Aren't they terribly expensive? Love the idea though, if we are talking Actifry. I was thinking they were well over £150
Do you mean with the Tefal Fryer Al? I've never had that problem with mine.

Albags was that in the Tefal thingy?
No ... but it's the sort of thing you have to be careful about.
I have a Roto-fry : )
