90's Rover ad

Anyone remember what the music was for the Rover 200 series ads which ran in about 1996/97. It featured a red 214 driving through a carnival / mardi gras ?

According to commercialbreaksandbeats.co.uk you have a choice of Sting or Sparks for that timeframe.

I do not recall the advert but I would guess that 'Englishman In New York' is most unlikely for a carnival setting.

Thanks Kempie, didn't know that site existed !  Gonna check out Sparks, certainly wasn't Sting. I kinda recall the Sting ad, and I think the ads I'm on about were before then so it might be as early as 1995. The song was really strange and sounded like it was sung in a foreign language, two words of the lyrics sounded something like 'zia butan' ... odd but true..

If it's the Rover ad I'm thinking about, and going by your description I think it is, then the track you're after is 'This Town Ain't Big Enough For The Both Of Us' by Sparks. It is a stunning orchestral reworking of their 1974 classic. It came from the album 'Plagiarism', which saw them rework lots of their back catalogue.

Try searching for the title with 'album version' after it, as it was a b-side of a single of the same name by Sparks vs Faith No More (which is also a cracking version!).

Did the ad have a couple of girls in the car, dressed slightly fetishy? They park outside a club at the end, then get out of the car?
