Good grief ! One would have had to be deliberately acclimatising one's tongue for years to have that much on a slice of toast. Anyone seeing that and deciding to give it a try would be put off for life. When I first started eating it, it was a case of barely touching the butter with the brown stuff. Can put much more on and enjoy it these days though. Having said that, I've not had Marmite for absolutely ages.
Some kind of adjustable wrench ? You can get "strap" type tools that hold the lid tight and give you a lever to move.
If you want to risk it, and it is at your own risk, you can jar a stuck lid between door and frame and try to move the jar. Wear gloves and glasses, be aware the frame / door could end up with an indent.

Vegemite is Australian, and was originally called Parwill (Marmite, Parwill, geddit). NZ has its own locally made Marmite; it 's a bit less salty.
