Maresco Pink Pinot Grigio Veneto 2011 (12%)
Never having been a lover of Pinot Grigio or rosé wines, I was pleasantly surprise with this delightfully fresh and fruity offering. Dry and balanced, with delightful summer strawberry flavours and an attractive blush pink hue, it is perfect for drinking on its own or for pairing with seafood, salads or even a nice chicken Kiev.
Available in Co-op stores only for £5.49.

Smashing Sauv Blanc from Waipara Hills for £7.50 - the real deal, loads of the 'cat pee on a gooseberry bush' flavours and much better than the Oyster Bay that they are pushing so hard at the moment.

I've enjoyed a few rose wines over the summer and have surprised myself by enjoying the sweeter end of the scale too. Sounds like a good 'un NoM.

Does what it says on the tin, or rather the label:
Richly flavoured with plum and black cherry fruit flavours leading into hints of dark chocolate and jam followed by a big, fruit packed finish
It's the fruit packed finish that sold it to me, totally lush :)

Agree on Oyster Bay, New Zealand pee.
Trying a Hollaia, a Sangio/Cab Sauv from Wrattonbully, South Oz not far from Coonawarra. Described as Deep garnet, complex aromas: dark cherry and plum/blackcurrant plus a meaty undertow, with notes of olive and leaf. Good elegance and intensity and an interesting chalky texture too. It’s an Italian style wine put through an Australian filter, with plenty of fresh acidity, moderate alcohol and slightly drying tannins. Designed for food, try Osso Bucco.
Also got a Sangiovese Rubicone La Berta to contrast the above against....which shall I try first?

The Hollaia - very unOzzie - much more balanced in the grapes than I expected - good after kick as the Sangiovese tannins came through, and yes the chalky texture was there - let me try the Rubicone as that was recommended and cheaper than the Hollaia.....I want to mentally compare it against the Caldora 2007 that got 87 in Wine Spectator, not bad for a £7 wine.....
