Which modern cars (makes and models) can park themselves? I've seen a few adverts showcasing this, parallel parking etc, however would like a list of these for a friend who is about to buy a new car, needless to say she's the first one to admit she's 5hite at parking. As well as a list any reviews would be brilliant. Many thanks in advance. ; )

I believe ypthe new Kia C'eed does this, the ford focus, some Lexus models also. Probably the top of the range models.

They had one on the new series of Fifth Gear, shown on the Discovery Channel, a few nights ago. It was either the Volvo S40 or the V40...

The V40!

Ford have it as an optional extra on Fiesta, Focus and Mondeos. I think I paid an about £500 to have it in my Focus last year.

For me it would take a great leap of faith to allow the car to park it self.
I got it tony as I have difficulty twisting enough to park comfortably, and believe me it took a lot of getting used to. I started with quite large gaps that I knew there would be no problem with and worked down. Very hard at first to stop yourself grabbing the wheel, which deactivates the program but once you get used to it it's ok apart from the funny looks you get when a passer by spots you parking while your hands are no where near the wheel. Even Trish uses it now.
My friend's got a Nissan Juke, that has parking warning noises, is that what you mean?
Right paddy I see, it must be very helpful for you.
No boxy they are just warning noises from the parking sensors.
No boxie, you switch it on, slowly drive past the traffic while it scans until it finds a big enough gap, Then you stop, engage reverse let go of the steering wheel and then follow instructions re changing gear, and the car does the rest. The first time I demonstrated it to my mate he was well impressed, the car stopped about 3" from the kerb with almost the same distance between the cars in front and behind.
Don't forget, it's only available on automatics.

Yeah, right. o>
Sigma it's available on manual cars as well, I know I've got one.
