Anybody know anything about brake hoses for a Saab 900 ('95). Have been told that three are corroded, so it's failed the MOT. The guy in the garage seemed to imply that, although they are just hoses, they would be a tricky job to fit - something to do with joining them to something brass or copper? He couldn't/wouldn't give me any idea of cost, so I'm wondering how long it would take to replace all four ( the fourth one is 'advisory', so I want to get that done at the same time). Thanks

There is a problem with Saab's now as the company no longer exists.
Spares are hard to find and the garage is possibly covering itself by refusing to give a price.

Ta for the reply, but I don't think it's cos Saab parts are hard to find. A few months ago I needed to have the distributor cap, small rotor arm inside, and HT leads replaced, and the small garage in my village (alas, not the one I took the car to for the MOT - I went to a bigger garage who do them for £30) found and replaced the parts no problem
I own a Saab and I don't have any problem getting parts.
look at this site
http://www.partsforsaabs.com/
They call them' brake lines' , I looked for brake hoses and brake pipes and got no results .
I would buy them myself and then get the garage to fit them, as I said Saab parts are not available from the ordinary parts suppliers.

Thanks. Have had a look online, and the brake lines (hoses) seem to come with brass screw fittings at each end, so I don't know why it would be a difficult job to unscrew the old ones, and screw in the new ones.....?

Thanks for that, Methyl. Looks like it's going to cost me a small fortune....!

Thanks to all for your responses. Just got the car back - £220 inc VAT. to replace/fix all four brake hoses/lines. Actually, I was relieved, as I'd thought it would be a lot more than that - the mechanic said it was a nightmare job !
