This was a question I heard on television tonight. If you were marooned on a desert island and could hear only one song, or one piece of music, for the rest of your life, what would you choose?

I've tried to answer this question before and I can't, so I'm just going to go with the music that immediately jumped into my head when I read teh question.
Adagio for Strings - Barber
Probably Tubular Bells.............
Roger Waters - Amused to Death.
Chi Mae
Ennio Morri

Sibelius 7th Symphony. Bleak but uplifting (and it only lasts about 25 minutes!)
Halo - Beyonce
don't know where the "cone" went?
Who cares where it went? Chi Mai is one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever written even if it does win 'most inappropriate use of drum machine' award! There was a theme music album, many moons ago, which incvluded this and another favourite of mine, the 'Gentle Touch' theme by... Roger Webb?
At this present time it would be anything by Andrea Bocelli.
Up until recently I would have said Vivaldi 'Nulla in Mundo Pas Sincera' but then I heard the Alison Balsom version of Handels 'Eternal Source of Light Divine' and that would be my choice.
I've posted a link before on another thread but make no apology for posting it again.

Erratum - Nulla in Mundo PAX Sincera..........
Rite of Spring (Stravinsky), if I had to choose just one.

If I ever made it on to Desert Island Discs, the other seven would be, in no particular order:

- Beethoven, Violin Concerto
- Mendelssohn, Violin Concerto
- Beethoven, Piano Concerto 3
- Toccata and Fugue, D Minor (attr. JS Bach)
- Beethoven, Symphony 6
- Tchaikovsky, Violin Concerto
- Mozart, Concerto for Flute and Harp

Sympathy For The Devil, The Rolling Stones
Fleetwood Macs Albatross or Ravels Bolero.
nabucca, can somebody play it please
Do you mean Nambucca or The Hebrew Slaves Chorus from Nabucco?
Ho hum...

If I was stuck on a desert island and had access to music I'd want to sing, but I do backing vox not lead, so I'd want to spend eternity working with this stunning bit of harmony:
Bach ~ St Matthew Passion
Would an opera be allowed? If so, The Magic Flute.
