1994 Jaguar Xj6 Torque Converter

Hi, I have a Jaguar XJ6 (1994), 3.2 and the transmission can be a little jerky. It also is very 'unwilling' to kick down, although I think this model is characterised by this. Could someone give me a rough idea of cost to repair or replace the torque converter. Mileage 31000. Full Jag history, 22 jaguar services all on time

my ex replaced one on my 2L corsair in 1980 , he had to hire a torque wrench and an engine hoist but he did it, it would have cost a months wage for a garage to do it he said. He was a JT in the RAF at the time. if that's any guide lol

oh and when and why would you need the kick down, i sail past beemers and mercs in the 3rd lane doing 70mph in my 1.4 1996 vauxhall corsa and never needed the kick down yet.

dot, I doubt that your 1.4 Corsa would kick down at 70 mph.
