Can someone explain why commercial radio play "speeded-up music"?  I'm talking about the Pepsi Chart bunch, eg. Metro, TFM.  I rarely listen to them, so when I do it's noticeable that the tracks are faster and higher pitch.

It is to reduce the airtime of the actual songs so they have time to get more adverts in. It's the main reason I don't listen to commercial/local radio.
