Went shopping today, the store was bare. Very little in fresh meat, only chicken and pork. No bags of salad. No Christmas stuff at all. They do not recognise New Year. Did not reorder anything Christmassy once it had all gone, according to cashier as they get fined on the amount of food that gets thrown out so would rather have no stock than food that could pass use/sell by dates.
I ended up going to the co-op which goes against the grain as they are strangling this town. Asda have been trying to build here but the coop keeps appealing, this has been going on for about four years now. But I needed the stuff, family party on Sunday and I need to get organised tomorrow.

Co-op stabbed itself in the foot here. After a recent re-fit many complaints and visibly fewer customers even though to get to another supermarket a bus journey (or car) essential.

I once had to deliver a lorry load into a Lidl distribution centre - it was disorganised madness so I won't use their stores.

Have tried Aldi or Sainsburys?

Haven't got either round here unless I travel 15 miles or so. Love Aldi when we go to a town that has one though.

I bought most of my Christmas dinner veg and also salad on Monday afternoon when it was on the reduced shelf at Sainsburys. We had brussels from £1.25 down to 20p bag, parsnips 14p, and green beans 39p, potatoes 40p bag but the best buy of all were tomatoes the "posh" supersweet variety from nearly £2 tray down to 20p - I grabbed 4 trays and they are still perfect even for tea today .........

rarely go to Lidl's,usually well stocked,never seems overly busy,niether does the co-op,has stock but not always what I want + vouchers not divi this year,tend to now go to Waitrose,as has most of what looking for

I had one of Lidl's 3 bird roast on Christmas day. Very enjoyable.

I am on holiday in Watchet, West Somerset at present. There are two Co-op stores within 5 miles and both have loads and loads of fresh fruit and vegetables, plus copious amounts of meats. They also have mountains of their own label chockies, that I can thoroughly recommend, especially the cherry brandy ones !

I am also fortunate in having a first class old fashioned butcher nearby, in Williton who has the best selection of dressed games that I have seen outside of Harrods Foodhall !

I tried one of Lidl's Three Bird Roasts last year and it was easily the most disgusting thing that I have had the misfortune to eat. It looked as if it had been run over, instead of slaughtered properly. It contained more stuffing than meat. Never again.

We had a three bird roast from lidl last year, it was dreadful!!
