Savings Limit On Benefits

Can anyone settle a disagreement concerning savings while claiming benefits, especially housing benefit.Does anyone know the savings limit for them. Thanks in advance.

With Housing Benefit, if you have savings in excess of £16000 you are ineligible for the benefit I believe

Housing Benefit is subject to normal capital limits.
First £6000 in savings is ignored.
Assumed tariff income of £1 for every £500 in savings between £6000 and £16000.
Above £16000, no HB entitlement.

Slightly different figures for resident of care home or client over 60.

It's either £16,000 or £17,000. I had reason to find out myself recently so I can assure you one of those is definitely correct.
