Can anyone tell me how to get rid of
Ask.com.
It seems to have taken over Internet Explorer
and Firefox.

Go onto IE settings. It's probably become your default search page. Remove it from the list of search pages/home page

Click on the cog at top right and then select Internet Options

I have got rid of ask.com from Ie
but not from firefox.
I will use IE from now on.
