I have a work rota that has long weekends off (Sat to Monday) every other week.However, this costs me an extra £8 a month in travel expenses.
The other rota gives every other weekend off btw -so it is just the extra Monday that is essentially difference
So is it worth £8 extra for the 2 Mondays off ?
in the NHS they got round this by giving us an hours per week contract rather than specific days of the week. That way, if you were rostered for a BH you just took another day off in lieu. Nobody missed out on a BH day off, that way.
the extra expense is due to weekly bus travelcard calculations
i work the previous Friday instead of the Monday
Friday travelcard will cover me 7days till Thurdsay- BUT i still have to work the next day Friday -(hence the extra cost)
If i were to work Monday then travelcard will cover me 7days fully on my rota
