Good Morning Early Birds!

Wednesday already! I was late in last night, after a wonderful talk by a Spitfire pilot, Flt Lt. Maurice Freeman DFC. He talked of some of his exploits during the war, including how he met his wife, who at the time was a WRAF Sergeant in charge of meteorology. He told us how while flying a new Gloster Meteor he'd just picked up from the factory and an engine caught fire and the plane crashed twice! Hit the ground in a field, bounced over a lane, just missing a bus, then hit ground again in another field on the other side. He miraculously got out completely unhurt and was stood looking at the wreckage and getting his breath back, when a wee man came running up to him and threw his arms around him and said, 'I just missed you there lad!' It turned out he was the bus driver and thought he had caused the crash! A wonderful story by a wonderful man, Somehow he forgot to tell us how he got his DFC, while claiming he wasn't an 'Ace'.
I got home at 11.30.
When the Boaty came in.
As a result of the above I was late going out this morning. The spadger catcher was not around, so the dawn chorus was already in full voice. Something I always love to listen to.
I think most of the badgers were back from their night's foraging, the older ones relaxing and watching the youngsters playing. They just looked to make sure it was me then ignored me! A couple of squirrels who share the patch of woods with the badgers, were up and about, I'm usually too early to see therm. They looked a bit startled to see me and constantly stayed on the other side of the tree they were on, one eye peeping round the tree. Funny little characters. Single sentries on the rookery, so the gulls must have gone back where they belong.
Lots of deer grazing on the hillside, they are a bit too far for me to get to know them, but a friend keeps an eye on them. She also keeps an eye out for traps now too.
An early start today as I have to collect my crew from home for a charter, her husband has a hospital appointment so will be using their car.
Have a happy day everyone.

I thought that about the bus driver too. He was convinced it was his fault! I'm sure Maurice explained to him.
How are you this morning?

Yo Beej xx All good?
Fine and dandy cheers boaty, nothing to grumble about. Dog walked super early due to the dawn cat-wants-food alarm going off rather too keenly today. Cras gear linkage cables have been fixed so can drive it again. Full day at work, then round to pick up the dog from MIL (she's dog sitting this today), just time to cut MIL triffid-esque hedges, then off to my parents for a Birthday BBQ (mums birthday tomorrow). Then in work super early thursday for a board meeting (time to get the heels out - boo, hiss lol) so all good ta. Have you got a good crew and group today? xx

A busy day for you peas, most of it should be fun! :o}
She's crewed for me many times, she was with me the day we rescued a dog from the canal. she does exactly what I ask of her and is very good with the passengers as, if talking was an olympic event she'd win gold every time! She great fun with a good sense of humour. :o}
