Spell Check On Ipad Mini

When I type too fast I get mmmmms instead of a space between words, my fault. Anyway I have noticed that when I press on the two words stuck together I get a blue highlight, I used to get a pink highlight across th words, with options above to correct the words. How can I get rid of the blue and get the pink back? It means I am retyping lots instead of just clicking on the correct words... Tia

I've noticed on the iPhone if the cursor is in the middle of the wrongly spelled word it shows blue, but place the cursor after the last letter and the word shows pink and a choice of better spelt words to choose from.
