Not Keith Vaz it seems. How long until we have a normal person in charge?

The final version gave a sense of greater detachment between Lord and Lady Brittan and Mrs Woolf than her previous attempts. //
Just leaked - those 7 rewrites in full..
1 - We're good friends and have dined together on several occasions
2 - We're friends and have dined together a few times
3 - We've dined together but we're not really friends
4 - We've dined together, but I hardly know him
5 - I've had dinner with his wife, and he may have been there
6 - I knew his wife along time ago
7 - I've never heard of him

I have every respect for Vaz here. He has proven to be an excellent Chair of the Committee.
But I wish this Woolfe woman would just get on with her job. Its been months since dave announced this Enquiry, and it still looks as if its being kicked into the long grass, which is no surprise of course, since such a lot of high-ranking people stand to be seriously embarrassed in the coming weeks and months, including Leon Brittain.

I predicted her demise last week when the connection to Lord and Lady Brittan was revealed.

The honourable thing to do would have been to resign.
But it now looks like she will have to be pushed.
Today's headline is that she has lost the confidence of the victims of abuse.
Perhaps her letter of resignation is taking several drafts and re-writes before it is made public.

// MPs have said Mrs Woolf, the Lord Mayor of London, should step down over her social and professional links with Lord Brittan.
The final version of Mrs Woolf’s letter was finally sent to Theresa May, the Home Secretary, on October 11, in which Mrs Woolf stated her personal contact with Lord Brittan would not affect her “independence and impartiality”.
But earlier drafts of her letter – seven in all – were ping-ponged between Mrs Woolf’s private office, the Home Office, lawyers to the sex abuse inquiry and counsel representing the Home Secretary.
Although the letter gave the impression of being a personal statement of impartiality by Mrs Woolf, the truth was very different.
The final draft had been altered beyond recognition when compared with the original version.
Furthermore, an unknown number of lawyers and civil servants had been allowed to have input into Mrs Woolf’s letter.
As pointed out by the chairman of the home affairs select committee, Keith Vaz MP, even the facts appeared to have been manipulated to place greater distance between Mrs Woolf and Lord Brittan. //
As the friendship between Lady Woolf and the Brittans appears to be well known ( there have been several photographs published of them together at functions), then one wonders why she was even considered for the post.
The result will be that the inquiry will have been delayed for several months, so perhaps that is the answer.

I smell a giant rat here, and think Dark Forces may be at work. By that I mean that there are so many people in high places that don't want to see this Enquiry proceed, under any Chair at all, that there are background moves to obfuscate and faff around. MI5 were responsible for stopping the investigation into Cyril Smith and I strongly suggest that similar covert interferences are at work again. Its all beginning to look awfully familiar to me.
It is simply Ms Millar wanting to make a name for herself in legal circles.
I am withthe RSPCC, get on with the results and action, We should stop focusing on the chairperson, she is not the only person involved here at all.
Once again we will loose the focus of the real problem because of other peoples agenda's. No doubt Ms Miller has her eyses on bucket loads of compo from the bottoomless public purse too
Looking at her mush its no surprise she went into the legal profession, clearly had no choice but to get her head down on books rather than boys!

I cannot understand how Keith Vaz can set himself up to judge others given his track record.

You have to wonder if the parade of unsuitable appointees is deliberate?
To lose one Chairman is unfortunate, but to lose two smacks of an attempt thwart any investigation.
I doubt a replacement will be in place this side of Christmas, then we get into election time.
I doubt we will ever know the truth.
