Sony Wega Engine Ke 42M1

I have an Sony wega engine tv and I have sound coming out of it but it sounds like it's in a hall and echoey. I've fiddled with the sound settings and it just sounds worse!! It's a spare tv for my bedroom and the picture is still perfect so I didn't want to just throw it so what are my options please? Should I get a freeview box and I can run sound through that? Or is there anything I can do on the TV to fix it? Thank you :).
