The BBC are getting it in the neck because it's only broadcasting eight hours of Christian-themed programmes in the run up to Christmas.

Is this a fair criticism, or a reflection of the secularisation (is that even a real word?) of Christmas in general?

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3348241/BBC-s-Christmas-TV-schedules-include-just-FOUR-hours-original-religious-shows-300-hours-festive-programming.html

Incidentally - should ITV, CH4, Sky, Netflix, Amazon, Channel Five etc share some of this criticism?

How many microseconds do all the others broadcast ?
I'd have thought that eight hours were more than sufficient. No one wants religion crammed down their throat at Christmas.
Depends on your understand of 'christian themed'. Does that include films like 'polar express' or other christmas themed films or is some degree of worship necessary?
8 hours of fairy tales to go with the other fairy tales is plenty. I assume we don't get and equal amount of all the other brands of fairy tales.
I find the false niceness at Christmas quite nauseating. I think that it has all gone out of control.

I have to admit that I don't have a TV.

Awww...c'mon. Whilst not being Christian myself, I quite enjoy "Carols from Kings' on the radio over Christmas.

...but - it does now beg the question - with 50% of Britons now averring that they have no religious leanings, will we be seeing even less religious broadcasts on telly?
sp, agree with you re. carols from kings, but what is all the praying about?
Maybe time the Beeb renamed the "holiday season" then they wouldn't feel obliged to bring Christianity into it, just call it Mas ?
//Incidentally - should ITV, CH4, Sky, Netflix, Amazon, Channel Five etc share some of this criticism?//

Private companies. The Bloated Biased Corporation is funded by us and it is compulsory. We have a right therefor to comment, and question its motives.
