Having just seen an advert for some crackers/crisp advert depicting bridesmaids shovelling them into their cgi-enlarged mouths made me wonder who more ridiculous can adverts get.

Perhaps we could have a star-studded occasion when the public judge THE most embarrassing/terrible adverts to rival the BAFTAs' occasion.

I thought that was secret camera filming !
Advertisers will look for any and all angles that will make their adverts stick in the minds of consumers.

If people talk about them, it enhances the product exposure, which is the purpose of advertising in the first place - and on the basis of your post, their job seems to have been completed effectively.
The dafter the advert the more memorable it is.

Every time I hear the Banana Boat Song I can picture that cartoon girl singing TRIO! TRIO!
Blimey! It's over 30 years old

Too loud man, like it's right in my ear you know ...
Awful adverts may stick in my mind but they sure as hell make me avoid buying the product at all costs.
I can't say that adverts affect my purchasing decisions one way or another.
Lateroooms.com.Ginger headed moron got tickets Liverpool etc beat bopping and shaking while stupid girl friend sits on the stairs on mobile and ignoring him. Grhhhhh
I hadn't seen the Jacobs cracker bridesmaids till I saw this thread - having viewed it I will let the side down by saying it made me giggle.
I like this campaign.
The other one of the woman lip syncing to "I like to move it move it" is in a similar vein. There are plenty of annoying adverts, but for me, this isn't one of them.
what's ridiculous exactly? Ads have to capture your attention, but compared with chimps having tea, it's like kitchen-sink realism. Also, it's funny and it's short. I don't plan to buy the product, though.
I haven't seen this ad, but can't wait to now !
I thought it was an an awful ad, I saw it once on tv and I'll make sure I don't watch it again. I don't buy the product.

Same here horselady.

I would never buy those sweets I think, where the people talk baby talk, and also the advert where a scruffy bloke with very long hair shouts, '' Buy one get one free '' referring to double glazed windows.

I could punch him on the nose if I saw him in the high street :-)

Who's doing the voice over on the trio ad please? He sounded familiar!
Cupid, it's the fab Derek Griffiths :D
And the voice at the end is John Peel.
I thank you... ;-))
As andy says adverts are about product exposure - the more ' terrible ' or whatever adjective comes to mind , the more it will stick in your mind

As a consequence 'you' might not buy the product , however there will be a significant number of people who will buy/consider buying the product .

Do you really think that companies would spend millions on advertising if they did not believed that it works ?
