Christmas adverts are now in swing. (Too early IMO). But we are inundated with alcohol adverts. Given the steps of Banning tobacco adverts. Should alcohol adverts also be banned?

It's another North American expression, my fault.

Sj.I noted you post, you disagreed with my opinion I'm sorry if you expected a reply.
I recall some charming Babycham ads, Anne......but they wouldn't have persuaded me to drink it......do they still have Babycham adverts?..x
Don't forget Cherry B and Pony!
No worries Ann. I didn`t expect a reply

Cider and babysham were popular when I was a student (pint glasses) !!!!!!
Mmmm.....sounds del......no it doesn't really!..... :-)
The correct name for cider and Babycham was a knickerdropper.
My Mum loved Brandy and Babycham

Anne....did that not make you burpy?...x

Bupy,? I'm a lady G.!!!!!!!!!
Actually Mamy is quite correct. It WAS brandy and Babycham which was guaranteed to get your end away. Didn't work for me, though, cost me a bleeding fortune as well.
Oooops.......of course you are..... ;-)

Mamya......hadn't seen that one......the bambi's looking cooler than I remember....x
When I worked in a bar (when I was underage to be doing that circa 1980) we used to sell little bottles of Babycham, Moussec and Snowball. In those days, people in the UK didn`t know good wine from bad wine so we sold wine via optecsn-the choice was red, white or rose
Didn't have a money back if you're not satisfied guarantee then?

Mum made one Brandy last all night, with multiple Babychams - it was a bit like homoeopathy I think.
Snowball? Advocaat and lemonade. The old ladies' favourite. My mother would buy a bottle every Xmas to pacify them as they would never touch alcohol!
I never had snowball but I remember having Babycham
The phrase Egg Flip comes to mind.
No, I see no reason to ban alcoholic beverage ads. Smoking one cigarette/cigar imposes on all around those who indulge; moderate drinking does not. And clearly smoking is more addictive given that millions became so but relatively few discover they are alcoholic when they start trying alcohol. The two are not similar enough to be comparable and treated identically.
