Mop Head Stuck Closed

So I vacuum the kitchen floor, fill a bucket with hot soapy water and go and get my Vileda mop..... It is stuck in the tight, closed position, and no amount of wrestling will free it.
Anybody got any ideas how to free it? It's got a plastic bit on each side but they are not in the same position. One is flush with the head and one is, sticking out. Any help would be appreciated.
