....but driving slowly round and round the big green with your dog running on the grass beside the car is a really lazy way to exercise your dog.... :-)

Hi G xx
But dogs like to chase cars.
Question Author
Well maybe, OG....but this one had no choice if he wanted a lift back home....x
I am guilty of taking the lazy way to walk the dog when its a bit cold - We take both cars - with the dog in one of them(quite important). When we get to the park we stop about 100 yards from each other. We get out and just call the dog between us 5 or 6 times and then hop back in.
Dogs happy with his 600 yard frantic dash and we have only spent about a minute in the cold!
The dog poops in the garden when we get back.
our pooch used to like trying to catch airyplanes, don't ask.
Long story short, she was nuts and is sorely missed.

At least the dog is getting some exercise, some don't.

I spend 2-2½ hrs a day, sometimes longer, out with our two, does me good as well.
was the car a rover?
One of my neighbours ride his bicycle holding on to the lead while little yorkshire terrier run alongside. They get along just fine even if it causes some folks to stare.

Of course you do, Quoi....!

And one day you will forget the dog......... ;-)

More of an Escort I think, Ael.....x

I see that too, BB......x
I don't agree with this, when does it stop to have a sniff, pee or poo and just be a happy dog walking along ?
Butterbun, so it never has a chance to meet and greet another dog, or as hereIam says to have a sniff around as they do, or even to stop and have a pee or poo. Or just stop when it feels like it. No wonder people stare. Poor thing.
Question Author
Giving him the benefit of the doubt I suppose he could be cycling to the park in the same way as some drive their dogs to the park.....like Quoi for instance.... ;-)

Just maybe....x
have a sniff? my dog's nose can be fixated on one blade of grass for so long all the other dog walkers have passed out of sight ...

I agree with you hereiam, I saw a woman the other day riding her mobility scooter at some speed with a small and overweight dog running behind her on the lead, it's tongue was hanging out as it struggled to keep up. I thought what if it tripped or got dragged, or was desperate for a pee. The owner wasn't looking back - and yes misses out on the smelling and general enjoyment of the environment too.
ael @ 12.11. For me, when I take my dog out that's his time to do with what he wants. If he wants to sniff a blade of grass for half an hour then that's fine, I'll wait. If he wants to charge around like he's never been outside in his life before then that's OK as well. It's his time to do with what he wants. I feel so sorry for the dogs who as soon as they stop to sniff, get yanked to move on by their walker. Unfortunately I see that a lot. My favourites are the people who chat to their dogs and the dog responding, as they go on their way;-)
