I answered a question on the site,about some-one who was asking about some-thing I had for sale,please could you tell me how I found out if they have answered me,and how would they get in contact with me? As I am new to the site it may seem a silly question,but asked it anyway!!!

If you click on View Your Profile you get tabs that take you to your questions and your answers

Hi, this isn't a buy & sell site so there is no method for such transactions, that and the fact that the message you responded to was 2 years old might have something to do with it :-)
The adverts section is to advertise items but to ask questions about adverts. HTH
