Tried searching for a post on this but nothing came up (unless I haven't searched properly or its been removed from AB as well and this thread will disappear too)!
This advert has been banned for being too political and having Greenpeace involvement.
I think Iceland are just highlighting the fact that they're removing palm oil from their own brand foods for the reasons in their video.
Anyway, it brought a tear to my eye. What do you think?
I completely agree with the message and if this ad brings their plight to the attention of more people then good for Iceland. I hope more companies follow. Orangutans are fabulous creatures.
Has this really been banned and by whom?
The film was banned by Clearcast, which is responsible for the clearance of television ads before they are broadcast, on the grounds of it being seen to support a political issue.
I think if Iceland had made its own advert on the same subject instead of using one associated with Green Peace, their ad wouldn’t have been banned. I also think it was a stroke of genius on their part. They are getting a free viral internet ad campaign and saving mega bucks in tv placements costs
There are signs in Iceland shops, but the commercial would have reached a wider audience. I think Iceland has been at the forefront of green issues for a while. Well done them.
