Is there any difference between men's and women's sizes? If any ladies have the same shoe size as your male partner, please try them on :)

There are differences even between women's sizes... so I would expect some variation. In theory, they should be the same.
There is an approximate 1.5-size difference between men's and women's sizing. For example, a men's size 7 is roughly equivalent to a women's size 8.5. Widths, however, remain the same during conversion: if you wear a women's D width, you will also wear a men's D width

Thanks, danny and pixie.
I buy desert boots from this site and they recommend a size smaller for ladies.
//We advise female buyers to buy one size smaller than your normal size as these are a unisex fitting.//

And for those who like useless information, the difference between shoe sizes is 1 barleycorn = 1/3 inch.

Baldric's link says it's the same, in UK.

I'll have to take my daughter to a shoe shop, I think.
What, to buy a pair of men's shoes?????
I got my son to try on my shoes to get a guide of size and he was measures the same in the shop.
Heavens above, hc4361. Don't buy your children shoes from anywhere other than a shop where they measure their feet and ensure a proper fit. You only get one pair of feet, so wrecking them in childhood ruins them for life.

My daughter is all grown up in her 20s and has been lusting after a very expensive pair of men's brogues for at least two years. I wanted to surprise her
Question Author
Thanks pixie
hc4361 - that's different.
Question Author
She's a very stylish girl who loves wide legged trousers with colourful brogues.
Baldric's link gives the same size for men and women in the UK? Am I reading it wrong?
hc.Even if the shoes you buy don't fit I am pretty sure that the shop would exchange them.
Question Author
danny, these are made to order so probably not.
Ah! That's different.
