Strange Thing Happening On Google Search

for the past week or more when I use Google search and click on the title of the one I want instead of taking me to that page a new window opens with an advert for something random but not connected to the search topic then when I close that window and click on the title again I do get the topic that I wanted ,have I got something I don,t want in the settings by mistake

Assuming that you're using a Windows PC (rather than something like an iPad or an Android device) run Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware if you've already got it on your machine. Otherwise use AdwCleaner:

Thanks Buenchico, I had a very similar problem to follyfancier - after reading your reply to them, I installed AwdCleaner and it did the trick.

I have been away for a week and not used the computer until today , just did another search on google now and it is doing the same again although I did what you said with the adw cleaner
