as there is a post re tea, for the love of me I cannot get a good tea that tastes like TEA.

The best is Red Label Extra Strong from Sainsburys.

I changed recently to Twinings Breakfast - absolutely no taste either

I have also being making tea with Sainsburys Tea leaves but because I haven't been using tea leaves since I was a kiddy - the tea was too stewed.

I love an oul drop o' tea - anybody tell me of a good tea.

Last time I was in the south of Ireland and the tea from B&B was lovely. Ta for any answers.

My OH uses Yorkshire tea.

Most teas taste the same to me.
Leave the bag in longer.

spathy - I leave it in the whole time I am drinking it - it can't be strong enough for me.
Try Sainsburys Kenyan (available in loose tea and tea bags)
I am not a tea drinker/lover but hubby reckons we should go back to tea leaves.
Try this JJ can find it in most supermarkets.

You aren't supposed to expect tea flavour jelly !
I infer from your post that you're using teabags which are useless for a proper cup of tea! I swear by Sainsbury's Red Label loose tea made in a teapot. I hate it when forced to use teabags on holiday.
We always use PG. My mum uses loose tea in a tea pot but its much too messy and faffing about.

ok I agree with you re loose tea - a good way to make it - I have forgotten from my youth - it was stewed last time I made it.
JJ I wonder if your sense of taste/smell is diminishing? It often does with ahem....increasing age.....
Don't scorch the tea leaves by pouring boiling water on the teabag just after the kettle has boiled the water. Wait 10 seconds after the water has boiled and then pour into your mug/cup/teapot.
Hi Jen, I like my tea to be strong & i've been trying different ones. Breakfast is too weak. I like PG, Typhoo & I tried Tetley but had to use 2 bags per mug. I like Yorkshire too. I use Wag Bakri loose tea leaves purchased in an Indian supermarket/wholesalers & it's absolutely delicious. You have to practice a few times to get the strength & amount right but love it https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=waag+bakri+tea&ie=&oe=
BTW I can't stand Earl Grey or any flavoured teas either. I make the above post tea either in a pot or a cup with an infuser
Scottish Breakfast Tea from Taylors of Harrogate, the leaves over the tea-bags if you can find it....the Irish from them isn't bad, either....

you know what - as I am getting older - I am getting extreme sensory issues and heightened not diminishing. Like I am deaf - last month I heard birds in the park for the first time in my life. I use headphones from the radio in the morning - first time I heard the harmonica and other musical instruments. Oh and my new teeth have been giving me so much grief - yes all senses have heightened as I have got older.
I've recently started putting soya milk in my tea. On it's own it's a bit of an acquired taste, but in tea it's wonderful - really complements the flavour. Try it!

Loose tea seems such a clart for one person. I use Tetley Extra Strong (red box) or Morrison's Extra Strong (blue box) tea bags. Both very palatable.
p.s. Agree entirely about Earl Grey. Only tried it once - vile stuff. Now the Queen can drink that muck is beyond me.
