don't know whether this is nationwide but our council has fixed signs on all our plethora of pedestrian crossings say "timing extended for covid 19" ??? what for, all pedestrian crossings are timed to allow a disabled elderly or other time to cross safely when the pedestrian crossing light indicates do not cross, now they have double the crossing time, holding up traffic backing up and blocking road entrance further back, if your so ill with covid then you should not be out at all
just another silly counselling from a jobsworth

annoying
More stupidity.
11th commandment: Thou shalt not question ANY edict that includes COVID19 in the text.

Mentalists.
As you say, just another jobsworth episode. When our recycling depots were reopened we had to book a time to enter and allowed ten minutes in there. Now from today, every time we visit we have to fill a form in with name, address, time of visit, and what we are recycling.
Some people are not displaying symptoms so could pass it on without knowing they have it.

Still annoying though.
I have seen the word "jobsworth" many times on this site and guess that it is strictly a British term. What does it mean?
oh god we are just 5 secs off someone like TTT
suggesting taht in view of the racial bias in Covid infections
the black stripes on a zebra are more infectious that the white
and if oyu climb up the yellow flashing ju-ju then in view of japans low infection - there is hardly any rish at all !

normal day on AB then
radio rental!
jobsworth is a term of abuse
BUT if originates from asking ( later to be shown to be a "jobsworth") to perform an entirely do-able act - perhaps one that he is paid to perform
and he replies he cannot because - - - "it is more than my job is worth". He cant do it because he cant afford to be fired as a result of breaking the supposed rule

clearly classist
Trump could not be accused : of doing nothing over Covid ( true true how true ) because it is more than his job is worth

[ clearly the predicate is gtrue or else he would do something)
radio rental TTT !
[yeah foo etc]
The only publicity I have seen on this is the reduced time before the Green man appears after the button is pressed, this is to prevent bunching of people waiting close together at busy crossings.
Accommodating social distancing if more than one person on crossing ?
sanmac, it's a 70s thing, possibly older, it's a term made popular on a TV consumer advice program that Used "Jobsworth" for those that do their job in an unthinking automaton like fashion that is often illogical but it's.... "more that their jobs worth to do otherwise" - I'll try and find an example.
not an example but a good explanation:

ummmm, in my case the Council has made it more dangerous. We booked a time on line and on arrival a man checked the registration against the time and if matched we were let in. Now, in addition, the employee hands us a form which we fill in and return, a double contact where before there were none.
It doesn't surprise me.
Bonus paid to any government or council employee who can think of another legitimate idea that will obstruct, irritate, or inconvenience, the general public.
from the video: "a minor factotum whose only status comes from enforcing otherwise petty regulations" - that describe thousands who are loving this whole covid episode.
OK, TTT, thanks for that video. Funny how the person in it switches between saying "jibsworth" and "jobsworth".
Who in their right mind would love it?
