Sweet And Sour Sauce

I’ve just made yet another not terribly tangy sweet and sour sauce.
I’ve tried a few recipes over recent years but non really taste like I want them too, like the ones you get in the chippy, even though I add what I think is missing from the taste...more vinegar, more soy sauce, more pineapple juice, some orange juice, lemon juice, etc.
All the recipes I’ve followed, vaguely, have either tomato sauce or purée in them and I think that’s part of the problem, the overriding taste is tomato and the sauce looks like tomato sauce, not clear.
Anyone have a recipe they can personally recommend? I’d be very grateful, thanks.

That does look the business mamy, trouble is I’d have to buy a fair few things to make it and I’m not sure I can be bothered with all the faff.
I’m starting to think buying a jar of it is the way to go, like mally and jj.
yes and I do think you can get Ben's (with extra pineapple) or you could add your own. I liked it.
When I tried Uncle Ben's once (that was enough) it was so sweet I nearly threw up. No sour contrast at all.
I like Aldi's sweet and sour sauce too. My only bugbear is that it comes in a small bottle. They do sachets too, if you wish to try for just one meal.

I use Seeds of Change sauces. Organic and very good.
