The Mauve Project

Does anyone know what this is? All I can find is this:
'The Mauve Project is a collaborative effort to write a free test suite for the Java™ class libraries. The current collaborators come from the Kaffe project, the GNU Classpath project, and the GCJ project.' Which actually explains nothing! I'm trying to find a new laptop for my old Mum and came across this beauty that's too cheap for the spec! The only part I can see that would possibly reduce the price so dramatically, is that it has this 'Mauve' feature. Can anyone elighten me as to whether I should buy it or not, or is there some kind of negative implication?

I think you’ll find that’s just the colour, the options are black or purple, the descriptions for both only vary in that the purple one says mauve. It’s just a standard W10 laptop

Like Fitzer, I can't see any connection between the Mauve Project and the laptop in your link (which simply happens to be coloured mauve - see pictures 6, 7 and 8 in the illustrations).

It's a decent enough laptop but, unless your mother needs to be able to store lots of large videos (or similarly massive files) on the machine, it's got a hard drive that's far, far bigger than she might ever need while, at the same time, it's got less RAM than might be optimal. Further, as I've just indicated, it uses a conventional hard drive, rather than a solid state drive (which is what you really should be looking for in a new laptop these days - it makes Windows run much, much faster).

If you're prepared to consider a refurbished model (in first class condition, from a supplier that I've used many times and I've 100% confidence in), this deal gets you over a thousand quid's worth of business-class computer for three hundred quid:
