Pounds And Ounces Vs Kilograms.
Who here thinks that reverting to Imperial measurements is a good idea, other than as a way of asserting our Britishness? Would it help our international standing in the scientific and fiscal world? Or is it just a finger up to the foreigners?

and this is from the Taskforce for Innovation ... aka the Taskforce for the Glorious British Empire. Maybe the Commonwealth Games will revert to one-mile races instead of 1500m. And our grandchildre n will all cheer when they get to do money sums with £-s-d and enjoy calculating rods, poles and perches.

TTT, I don't think we have, but I get the impression that many GBers would love to see it happen. BJ said in 2019 "BORIS Johnson has vowed to bring back pounds and ounces as measurements once Britain finally leaves the EU. The PM said there was no reason why people shouldn't be able to use the old-style measurements once we're finally out. In an interview with the Daily Mail with just days to go before polling day he laid out his plans. The Tory leader said: "We will bring back that ancient liberty. I see no reason why people should be prosecuted."
Was that a simple populist rallying cry?

>>> I was not aware that we have moved away from imperial measures
Which only goes to show how out of touch with reality TTT is, as usual!
Imperial measurements featured strongly in the curriculum when I was at junior school but we we told very forcefully to forget about them altogether when I transferred to secondary education, as everything would be in metric measurements only from then on. As that was 57 years ago, it seems that TTT is a bit slow to catch up!
We do have a rather strange mix of measurement now, I have to admit. At one time, Norfolk Trading Standards took action against a Belgian bar in Norwich because they were selling draught beers in metric measures. In the same week, they took similar action against a market trader in Norwich, for selling fruit and veg in imperial measures!
My own attitude is that I accept that a pint is a useful measure in a pub (although a half litre would be just as useful as long as the price was dropped accordingly) but I absolutely refuse to buy from any greengrocer who displays prices using imperial measures.

I've bought a pint in a Rotterdam Irish "Pub". It was quite legal as long as they also quoted the metric equivalent on the pump head, 568ml. The metric/imperial game has been used by both sides as a weapon. It is now and always has been, apart from a few exceptions, the case that any measures are legal as long as the metric equivalent is also quoted. You can order a Triskellion fobble-weight of straight bananas as long as it's also quoted in KG. Geddit?
TTT, the Olympic Games were run by dastardly foreigners with no sense of tradition.
However, the "Empire and Commonwealth" Games were still using imperial measurements in the 1960s, as I'm sure a non-ignorant chap like you knows
