I guess it's the fact that the man now has a handsome face, but still on a - shall we say - slightly lumpy body? I'm sure there's a more in-depth explanation...

They have a series of ads with the 'that'll do' theme. Some are quite good, imo.

Just that it's a more than ok improvement, one is expected to assume he was ugly before and the results are better than expected. Supposedly demonstrating the Yorkshire tendency to understatement.

I thought it was because he was a mate of the man asking so would be about the same age, yet he now has a much younger looking face. I could be wrong

You see him from the back looking plumpy, a bald patch and presumably of a certain age and then he turns round with a young face and designer stubble. I must say I found it obvious.
