On top of the other scandals you can see why Khan felt Dick was not doing enough
Have they announced the runners yet to fill her slot I wonder ?
Whoever it is they have got their work cut out

Dick started briefing immediately on being fired. Khan has waited.
According to Times - HE (Khan) asked her what she was gonna do ( think - it is VERY difficult, you know) and then what she was gonna do about Charing Cross and the merry men there
and she said narfin
and he said you're out
Now my dear Harvey Jones said wivva sick firm wiv da wrong outlook that wont change - - - you need to fire about 20-40% of the mgt staff for a turn around
Who did Thiefrow ( fired them all) 1964 - it was Sir Robert Mark innit - he who quipped ( learn from this ABers!) "The police should arrest more criminals than it employs"
Clearly NOT a chief the men loved
Brian Deer - also not beloved of the ex coppers here - fired the whole of the West Mids Serious Crimes Squad - overtaped evidence with an episode of cross roads

Briefly, that's there's an even bigger scandal brewing, about police collusion in a murder years ago. There's been an inquiry: the suggestion is that Cressida's seen the report, though it hasn't been published yet, and knows there are “a dozen Daily Mail front page stories” in it that would have made her position totally untenable.
"It quotes a myriad of examples, from upwards of 50 police officers with criminal convictions allowed to join up in the last few years, to one police station safe with secret evidence that has the code to it scrawled above it on the wall. "

The Met is a cess pit.
Cressida should have been sacked long ago.
Patel never had the bottle to do it.
If Jno’s Standard link is to be believed, it looks as though she jumped before she was pushed.
Now someone else will read the report and recommendations and have to say lessons have been learnt (when they haven’t).

//The Met seems to be rotten to the core//
It would appear so, although I suspect it is more about poor management than anything else. Dick was never a good choice and obviously just tick boxing.
However to balance things remember there are circa 43K in the Met so the few we see really are that - the few.

well, maybe, ymb, but then again you think about the ones who haven't been caught. Maybe none but maybe lots, their record is so poor we just don't know.
I'm startled by that quote I lifted about 50 cops with criminal convictions joining the force in recent years. We'll see if it's true but it sounds as if the writer has seen the report, or bits of it.

Even if you tripled the ones we know then its still a small percentage. It is very disingenuous to those Police Officers who are trying to make a difference and the country a safer place for you and I by including them in sweeping statements.
//"It quotes a myriad of examples, from upwards of 50 police officers with criminal convictions allowed to join up in the last few years//
I'd like to see evidence of this and what exactly the criminal convictions where and when they occurred For instance if a 10 year old was done for petty vandalism or smoking pot and then said person applied to join the Force at aged 21 I would not expect the criminal conviction to stop them. Clearly serious convictions should stop them. I am surprised, the NPPV3 (Done by Warwickshire PF) states you must disclose spent convictions for a Police officer (For non officers you dont) so you would think they are checked. Just had mine done along with the SC clearance, they do take it seriously and the application forms are quite far reaching.

Ymb,
A 10 year old getting done for vandalism isn’t a criminal conviction. I doubt that is what the leaked report is saying.
I get your point that 50 officers with criminal records out of a force of 30,000 is small. But most people would expect that there shouldn’t be any - none.
We will have to wait a short time to see what the report says, and whether it is anything that Cressida Dick would have resigned over.
