The Fairy Tree

The Fairy Tree is a magical tree
and stands in a field alone,
encircled by secret runes
carved on ancient stones.
The stones are swathed in filigree
of quaint and delicate making,
but once secret spells are spoken
the wee folk will be waking.
And all at once day is night
and the full moon shines high and bright
and dancing round the Fairy Tree
the wee folk jig and sing with glee.
Harps and flutes of fairy gold
Play songs and tunes of ages old,
pipes and drums and tambourines
mythical tales of ancient kings and queens.
Then the Keeper of the Tree
will know his attendance done
and he will drift away silently
before the rising of the sun.
When all has lasted throughout the night
until the light of day,
then the Fairy Tree wishes fair flight
as all the wee folk fade away.

One of the first things I learned about our house here in Kerry, is that there is a falry tree by the gate - no-one will ever cut that tree down whilst I live here ....

Thanks for the poem and a very Happy Christmas to you, Woodelf
Merry Christmas Woodelf and Dave, and of course Gness too.
