Why do cuddly toys lose their softness the longer you have them for?

A cuddly toy's cuddliness is directly linked to the amount of cuddles it gets. I suspect your toys are all cuddled out!

the sensible answer would be dirt build up. The one i want to believe though, is that the toy is nearly ready to become real. Read the velveteen Rabbit for more info!

Lol, they are certainly well cuddled. I was just wondering if there's a soft proportion of fur which falls out over time, or if all the fur is soft on the outside but this softness wears off...similar to clothes maybe. I don't understand the biology of it...
