Why Is The Mercedes E Class And Bmw 5 Series 2009/10 More Expensive Than A Jaguar X Type?
I own a 2009 Jaguar x type that has 90,000 miles. I’ve owned it since 2019 and I paid £4,000 for it. On auto trader the X types this age with the same mileage are going for around £3500. I’ve been looking at Mercedes’ E class and bmw 5 series the same age as my Jag with roughly the same mileage, but they’re going for around £5000/£6000. Why are they such a big difference in price even though all three are luxury cars the same age and same miles?

As a Jag man myself I can say the X type is not considered a proper Jag, it's a Mondeo with different clothes on and thus is not really in the same bracket as the other two. Used car prices, like most things are based purely on supply and demand. More people want the Merc or the Beamer. Simple as that really.
Don’t know if any of you have drove x types yourselves but it’s kind of underwhelming to drive. I mean, get it to 40mph and drop it into third gear, yeah it kind of pulls you back in your seat doing that with the torque, and at 70mph in 5th gear on the motorway it has some good overtaking power, but still, underwhelming
