I saw them last year with The Casuals
Question Author
are they still going? Who's the casuals ?
Yep, still going. The Casuals had a hit with Jesamine, you'd know it if you heard it
Question Author
Oh yes I've just looked on u tube and remember the song but not the group
Question Author
Have you seen the advert ?
I have! I posted on here about it because I knew the song and couldn't place it, it was keeping me awake :D
What do you mean 'pinched it'. There not trying to disguise it. If its within copyright timescales they'd surely have got permision/paid to use it

Tongue in cheek :)
Ah, a musical 'blast from the past'.

Nostalgia isn't what it was.
Do you know, some battery company tried to ‘pinch’ the Rolling Stones ‘not fade away’ tune for their adverts a few years back. Disgraceful.
There is big money to be made by licensing pop songs for adverts. But only for the song's copyright owners, and for sixties hits, that's unlikely to be the group that sang the song.
I used to thinl that Dave and Dee were two different people.

The same confusion as thinking Barney and McGrew were two different firemen.
Dave Dee was a probationary police constable when he attended the fatal car accident that killed Eddie Cochran.

He recovered Cochran's guitar from the wreckage, and made sure it was returned to Cochran's family.
AH, I didn't know that.
Somewhere in the back of my mind, there's a story about Marc Bolan being involved with another famous person's accident.
Do you remember that?
Zacs, that 'few years back' was 35 years ago. It wasn't a battery company, it was Scotch VHS tapes. That skeleton terrified my daughter
Barsel, a tenuous link to your memory
"First, we must mention the case of one Marc Feld, an Eastern London boy and the son of a lorry driver. The 13-year-old Feld met Cochran outside the Hackney Empire, a theater in the London borough of Hackney, where Cochran had just played a concert. Cochran allowed the boy to carry his guitar out to his limousine. Feld later renamed himself Dib Cochran and fronted a band called The Earwigs, although that was sort a joke name, an homage to the performer who had inspired him. Marc Feld was at this time already famous under another stage name, Marc Bolan."

Blimey Barry! That’s scary.
Was that the advert you were thinking of, Zacs?

Using music in adverts did Marvin Gaye no harm, I heard it on the grapevine.

It also propelled Labradoodles to the height of popularity in a flash, ha ha.
It's an Italian translation of 'Hold Tight' by Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick & Tich by I Monelli called Chi Sei. I found it on Wikipedia. :) xx
