Very Long Shot - Name This Tv Drama

Roughly 30 years ago. Crime drama (murder) set in the flatlands of Cambridge/Anglia involving a man on the run out on the fens in camouflage gear. A caravan might have been involved. This actor was in his 20s with a very distinctive face and dark hair. It featured this chap crawling round the fens soldier style.
I'm sure the storyline was one or two episodes of a long running drama but I can't remember who the detective (the star of the show) was.
Is it ringing any bells? I can remember nothing else about it

It sounds like an episode of Lewis, but that’s set in Oxford.

I can see the blokes face but can’t think who he is. I have a feeling he was in The Bill but IMDB isn’t helpful as most of the actors don’t have photos .

I know it wasn't Frost because I have seen every episode several times.
I will look in to The Chief, it is a possibility. It is frustrating because the only face I remember is that of the offender on the run and I've never seen him in anything else.

The chap played an ex soldier who was accused of murder. I think he lived with his sister. He went rogue in the woods, dressed in camo.

choux, I can't say it wasn't. It could well be. It was quite tense.

Thanks both, it certainly wasn't Heartbeat, it was much more gritty and set in flat fenland.
