I remember disliking texts - too impersonal I thought - but now I often find incoming phone calls that interrupt whatever I'm doing an inconvenience so keep in touch with everyone mainly by text.   Which do you prefer?

Text.

In our family and friends circle, we all tend to text or WhatsApp to ask the person if they're ok to have a chat.

If I'm busy doing something which I don't want to be interrupted in, then I ignore the phone and then text later to apologise and ask if it's ok to call the person then.

Text for me too. Especially when it's someone who doesn't let you get a word and doesn't listen to you.

If it's family or close friends, then phone, and some employers, depends on my relationship with them.

Almost all my work-based communciations are by e-mail or text, but I do love a chat on the phone.

Text, but usually by whatsapp then I can type on the puter rather than the phone which is tedious.

voicemail msg of a colleague:-

you have reached..... xxxx - at the beep, hang up, and send me a text.

sorry, wrong post!

Text or Whatsapp, both usually from the laptop unless I'm roaming.

As one daughter is profoundly deaf text/whatsapp has been a Godsend.

And I Facetime my daughter who's away at uni

Just to be different from everyone else 😊 I prefer phone calls!

Texts are free or very cheap, and is why most people use them rather than make a call. With people who live far away, I prefer to FaceTime (video call).

Texts & whatsapp for me too.

Mainly Whatsapp but email when there's a lot to chat about or

occasionally a phone call.

Phone calls for me as I sometimes can go for days without speaking to someone.

Daughters never answer their phones so I have to text to ask if they can phone me.

Texted one daughter yesterday to ask if she could phone me on her way home from work and she texted me back to say can you tell me what it's about when I see you next Tuesday?

Needless to say I didn't reply, and she didn't phone me.

Neither - Email!

I don't like phone calls as I like to answer or reply in my own time, and don't like letting it ring!

I don't like texts because I leave my phone here there and everywhere and could miss texts for days!

I am on my laptop at various times throughout the day, don't miss emails like I would texts and don't have to answer immediately like a phone call

//I don't like texts because I leave my phone here there and everywhere and could miss texts for days!//

If you use windows install PhoneLink from the MS Store.

>>> "Texts are free or very cheap, and is why most people use them rather than make a call. "

That used to be a good reason to text rather than call but these days almost every mobile package includes unlimited free calls to UK numbers anyway.

I generally prefer people to email me, rather than to text me, as that means that I can use a proper keyboard (on my laptop) to type a reply, rather than having to use a fiddly little one on my phone's screen.

I still like to send and receive phone calls though.

Barsel, sorry to hear that. It's exactly the same with me.
