Good evening, a Soup offering that looks interesting as far as discovering anagrams is concerned. Help with the following would certainly help me to know if I’m on the right track. Many thanks in advance!

25 I thought RESCALING but it doesn't fit with either letter

Matakari, I was going to send you a message this morning - saying that with almost 40 anagrams to find, you might be very happy! (The bad news was that you'd need to solve around 30 clues first.)

You have quite a few mistakes. As the puzzle is so new (and so good), I will attempt hints...

12. Your O is wrong. You need a very famous fairytale girl, some of her name, plus an anagram (tattered) of most of 'dress'.

16. The answer to the clue has a four-letter everyday word for 'relate', give an account, add an R for Run and add Is, in the clue. This will give you the (common) 'support' - only then will your S be correct.

NMA, I think Matakari is confusing us (and himself) by putting in letters before doing the essential anagrams. For 25, your 'rescaling' answers the clue...

16a the answer to the wordplay came to me while I was in the garden...

Matakari, to avoid confusion - I mean your S at the start of 16 will be correct once you have anagrammed the answer  to the clue (and I'm hoping my big hint will be useful).

I can only think of one anagram for 16a- it came to me in a quieter moment.

NMA, good that you're getting on well with this. It was good fun, though some parts were much easier than others.

Nearly finished but stuck on some in top right hand corner.I think I have a mental block.Any help much appreciated. 5a. Papers rip and run out after setback.(6)

28a a 9 letter creepy-crawlie minus the 4 letter river that goes through York + a 3 letter word in the clue =8 letter word for trees. anagram this and you get something you can do on a computer.

Sorry Loki I haven't got that one yet

Loki, 5 A is a word for papers, newspapers - but I only ever see it in crosswords!  There's  the two-letter abbreviation for 'run out'.  and a four-letter word for 'rip' (as in tights, stockings),  all reversed, setback.

Good morning, thanks, NACW and Newmodarmy for the hints. Yes, I had RESCALING for 25a – anagram of the last two words in the clue- but went astray with 20d which I thought was CUED.

Hints for the other three ( 28a, 15d, 18d ) would be appreciated.

And before proceeding any further, I seek confirmation for the following: 14a:GULL, 21a: GOAT, 24a: TRADE, 29a: ELAPSE, 11d: DOES, 26d: SIREN

Thanks so much Neveracrossword

Thanks, Matakari. For your confirmation clues, all bar 14 A are correct.

There's a big and helpful hint to 28 A from JJ - how did you miss that?!

Matakari, all correct except 14a.

Got 28a- very straightforward from JJ109's hints. Your R in there is wrong

Hi Matakari

20d is an anagram of "cued"

14a Gull is wrong

21a Goat is correct but you need to anagram it for input

24a input is an anagram of trade

29a input is an anagram of elapse

11d input s an anagramof does

26d input is an anagram of siren

JJ, I'm sure Matakari knew about the need to anagram - I think that's what he was looking forward to!

Matakari, I hope you're all finished now and have enjoyed the very Matakari friendly puzzle. Soup was definitely to your liking!

Many thanks, jj109, for confirming these answers to the clues! And, NACW, I’m far from done, having trouble with the appropriate anagrammed input of several clued answers. For example, how do I know which anagrammed input must be used for this one?

26d Father meets new, fascinating woman (5 )  SIREN  ( REINS, RESIN, RINES, RINSE, RISEN, SERIN )

From the crossers, Matakari - only one of those answers will fit!
