The digital kitchen scales we've had for, perhaps about twenty years, is just giving up the ghost. i.e. the feet are coming adrift.

All sorts at all sorts of prices offered on Amazon etc. Is anyone able to recommend a good one. Old one is 19cm square and has served us well.

Depends what you like I have wall mounted digital kitchen scales. I find very handy depending on what you are weighting may need to use a bowl on the scales. I always set my scales with bowl on then my ingredients.

Thanks Giggsie but I'd like one that I can keep in the cupboard and just put on the worktop as and when I need it.

We've a digital Salter, love  the fact you can put a bowl on and zero it, add something and zero again. Similar model on Argos £17

TBH there isn't much difference in them, because the weight sensor (load cell) is a pretty standard item...much like the quartz oscillator in digital watches. Just choose one on looks and capacity.

Question Author

Thanks netherfield, wife uses the kitchen scales on occasions to weigh the washing before putting it in the machine, unfortunately that £17 Argos one only has a capacity of 5kg, I think we need a 10kg one.

I've had this one for over 4 years and I'm quite happy with it...

Oops...I see you want a greater capacity.

Why does your wife weigh her laundry?

^to know the weight of it! We do it...

Question Author

I've had a look at it pastafreak and all the Accuweight ones seem to be 5kg. Thanks for trying to help.

Washing machine is a bit of a mystery to me Tilly but I think it's perhaps something to do with how much detergent to put in. There's also a maximum load capacity!

My washing machine weighs the laundry before it starts the wash (and doesn't start if it's too heavy)

I can honestly say I have never weighed my washing!

would you be better off with the luggage scales then?

Question Author

Don't think a luggage scales would be very appropriate in the kitchen! We seem to be digressing into laundry rather than kitchen scales.

10 kg kitchen scales

Buy Salter High Capacity Scale - Black | Kitchen scales | Argos https://search.app/skRv7184xdzzHKcX8

Salter is a reliable make, check online for lower price

Sorry about the digression (but it often happens on Answerbank).

That looks the part Barry, thanks for that.

I once tried weighing washing, couldn't see the readout on the scale though😂.

Could always weigh the washing in two goes.
