Microsoft Office 2003 and Windows XP professional

I am currently running XP pro on my computer and need Publisher to do some work. A friend has lent me a disc with Office 2003 on it which includes publisher.

Anbody know if when I go through install it will give me the option to just download Publisher rather than the whole lot? If I do have to download the whole lot will I have problems e.g. will all my XP documents open ok in Office 2003?

Any advice/tips gratefully received. Thanks

My disc gives you the option of choosing which component of Office 2003 you wish to install -
no reason why your friends disc shouldn't do likewise.

As for compatibility -

Agnabeya has correctly answered your question.

All I'll add is to say that when you see an option to choose something like 'Typical', 'Compact' or 'Custom' installation for Office 2003, you should choose 'Custom'. You'll then be asked which components you wish to install, allowing you to select Publisher on its own.
