My (new to me) 8 month kitten is experiencing diarrhoea.I started on adult whiskas then moved on to whiskas junior meaty chunk things and junior biscuits, still got the trots. What do you suggest. She seems very well in herself. do you reckon a trip to the vets is in order. Please help I'm tired of clearing up after her. Thanks
Has she always been on moist food ? My vet told me that not all kittys can handle moist food for that exact reason. I feed mine "Science Diet Natures Best" and hes doing great. I just need to be sure he has plenty of fresh water.
Make sure and ask a vet, he may be getting dehydrated with the runs, this can happen very quickly for them, how long have you had him?, you want to watch changing food on him quickly also, make it gradually, a Guideline, not set in stone:75% old-25% new for 2 days, then 50-50 for 2 days, then 25 old-75 new for 2 days, on the 7th day on new food. If they have trouble like diarrhea/vomit slow down and cut % even more, they could have a sensitive tummy.
one of our cats used to be like yours the vet couldnt find anything the matter and told me to mix some wholewheat bread with her meat it worked for her hope yours gets better soon
My cat had the same problem when it was a kitten, the vet told me she had become dehydrated because of it and I had to put her on rice mixed with chicken pieces and/or pasta with chicken to help bind her up. She didn't like it much at first but it helped her get better. If you are putting her onto dried food you might be better off taking her to the vet first as if she is dehydrated it will probably make her worse...
